Residential Intensive Treatment (RIT)

The Elkins Mountain Schools Residential Intensive Treatment program is intended to serve youth with a chronic history of impaired behavior at home, school, and in the community. In addition to behavior problems these youth often have other problems such as depression, trauma history, and/or substance use. Most have been provided less restrictive services (e.g.  counseling, medication) that did not result in necessary changes. Many are adjudicated as delinquent or status offenders. Some are transferred from higher levels of care to support continued transition in a secure and structured environment.

For referral criteria, please contact the DoHS office that serves your county of residence.
